We thank you for joining us to our Sunday morning worship service here on YouTube. We pray that you feel God’s love around you as you join us. This Sunday (April 18, 2021) our service began with our organist, Sarah Scovel, play “Elegie,” by David Paxton. Rev. John P. Wilson then made the announcements of the church, reminding members of opportunities to serve throughout the community this coming week. Our liturgist, Susie Kleinbeck, led everyone in the Call to Worship, which was a responsive reading. Everyone then stood and sang “Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Skies,” # 662 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Ms. Kleinbeck then read the Call to Confession, which was followed by everyone reciting the Prayer of Confession in unison, followed by a few moments of silent prayers of confession. Ms. Kleinbeck then read the Assurance of Pardon, which was followed by everyone singing the Gloria Patri. Ms. Kleinbeck then read the Assurance of Pardon, followed by the New Testament Lesson from Acts 4:32-35. We were then blessed with a solo performance by Warren Townsend as he sang “O God of Every Nation,” # 756 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission), followed by “Hear the Good News of Salvation,” # 441 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Mr. Townsend was accompanied by pianist, Sarah Scovel. Rev. John P. Wilson then read the Epistle Lesson from 1 John 1:5-22, which was followed by a prayer and then his sermon entitled “In Case You Hadn’t Noticed.” After Rev. Wilson’s sermon, everyone stood and sang “Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound,” # 649 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). We then entered into a time where we shared the joys and concerns of the church, followed by prayers of the people. At this point in our worship, we normally would pass around the offering plates, but with covid concerns FPC now leave the plates at both exits of the sanctuary and asks that those attending leave their offerings as they enter or exit. We use this time as a time of mediation, while we listen to our organist, Sarah Scovel, play “Untitled” by Charles Rinck. After the time of mediation ends, everyone stands and sings the Doxology followed by the Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Lord’s Prayer. Our members then sang our last hymn, “Hymn of Promise,” # 250 in “Glory to God, The Presbyterian Hymnal” (used with permission). Rev. Wilson then gave the charge and benediction, and everyone begins to leave while our organist played “Trumpet Tune,” arr. Patricia Harris. Many choose to remain silent in their seats and enjoy the music before they leave. First Presbyterian Church 201 S. 5th Street P.O.
