One famous case was of a boy found in the 19th century in India who was said to have been raised by wolves. These stories, combined with Kipling's imagination and knowledge of Indian jungles and animals, inspired the creation of Mowgli, the boy raised by wolves, and his adventures with characters like Baloo the bear and Bagheera the panther.
