methi thepla recipe | traditional gujrati thepla | light and soft thepla | methi na thepla Methi thepla is soft flatbread typically famous from Gujarat, India. It is made of fresh methi leaves (fenugreek) and whole wheat flour or multigrain flour. It is generally eaten during breakfast or can be made for snacks or with evening tea. Methi theplas are made with few key herbs and spices aswell as curd. Methi leaves has a unique flavour which makes thepla taste even better. They can be served with tea, raita, pickles or any curry. Note down the ingredients given below and follow our step-by-step instructions to cook delicious methi thepla. Ingredients: Wheat flour (atta) - 2 cup Gram flour (bean) - half cup Ajwain - 1 tsp Sesame seed - 1 tsp Turmeric powder - half tsp Garam masala - 1 tsp Ginger - 3 inch, grated Salt - 1 tsp or as per taste Fresh methi leaves - 200gms, chopped Curd - 1/4 cup Water - 1 cup approx. Ghee - 1 tbsp Step-by-step recipe : 1. Take 2 cup whole wheat flour in a large bowl, add half cup gram flour to it. 2. Add 1 tsp ajwain seeds, 1 tsp sesame seeds, half tsp turmeric powder. 3. Add 1 tsp garam masala, 3 inch grated ginger, 1 tsp salt or as per taste. 4. Now add 200 grams finely chopped fresh methi leaves along with 1/4 cup curd. 5. Knead a soft dough like chapati/roti dough. 6. Approximately 1 cup water would be needed. 7. After kneading a soft dough pour 1 tbsp ghee to make it even softer. 8. Ghee gives a really nice soft texture to the dough. 9. Now pinch a small ball sized portion from the dough to make methi thepla. 10. Place the small dough on the work surface, sprinkle some flour over it to avoid sticking and start rolling using a rolling pin, give a nice round shape until it’s slightly thin around the edges. 11. Place it hot tava on low to medium flame, keep turning sides until half cooked, now apply a tsp of ghee or oil each on both sides. Doing this will cook thepla nicely both sides and will bring am amazing flavour to it. 12. Once thepla is cooked entirely transfer to a serving plate. 13. Repeat the process to cook all the theplas the same way. 14. Serve methi theplas with raita and tangy pickle of your choice.
