Question: A 28-year-old woman without any significant medical history presents to the office, complaining of having 1 episode of painless production of spoonful sputum with speckles of blood that happened a day ago. She states that she had her period last week and had been taking large amounts of ibuprofen for 3 days. She also complains of having mild epigastric pain of burning quality and non-radiating. She denies having palpitations, nausea, vomiting, hematuria, or dizziness. Her physical exam reveals no apparent distress, moist skin, oral mucosa moist, regular heart rate and rhythm, lungs clear to auscultation, no abdominal tenderness, and normal neurological exam.
