Example of Aliasing

Example of Aliasing

Aliasing is when the sample rate that is less than the actual frequency of something happening creates an illusion of an alternate frequency. In this case, the sample rate of the camera (120 FPS) is much lower than the frequency of which the gas turbine is turning at, create an illusion that the gas turbine is turning much slower than it is in reality. At some point, the gas turbine looks as if it stops and eventually goes in reverse, because of aliasing.
