In September 2018, a remastered edition of Assassin's Creed III was announced. The remaster contains enhanced visuals, lighting, and resolution, improved character models, and several modified game mechanics, with all previously-released downloadable content also included. The main story is set in the 18th century, before, during and after the American Revolution from 1760 to 1783, and follows Ratonhnhaké:ton / Connor, as he fights the Templars' attempts to gain control of the colonies.
