Assam, Nagaland to Witness Widespread Rains and Thunderstorms; Dense Fog to Blanket Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. An active Western Disturbance is likely to affect the weather over Northwest India from Wednesday onwards, and an induced cyclonic circulation is expected to form over Rajasthan on the same day. Furthermore, moisture feeding from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal is likely to interact in the Eastern region on Thursday. Under the combined influence of these weather activities, widespread rain with localized thunderstorms and snow in the mountains is forecast in India's northern half from Wednesday onwards. Precipitation totals up to 50 mm are predicted in isolated places of Uttarakhand from Thursday into Friday. West Bengal is at risk of localized inundation due to rain totals exceeding 50 mm on Friday. Cold day conditions are likely to start over the Northwestern region from Thursday, spreading into the West, Central and East region on Friday. Dense to very dense fog in the morning hours is very likely in some pockets of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on Tuesday. 2-Day Regional Forecast - Tuesday : • Widespread snow is likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. • Fairly widespread rains with localized thunderstorms are expected over Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. • Scattered showers are forecast over Meghalaya. • Scattered snowfall is possible over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. • Dense to very dense fog in night/morning hours is probable over isolated places of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Wednesday : • Fairly widespread snow is expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. • Scattered showers are likely over Punjab and Haryana. • Isolated rains are possible over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Delhi and Kerala. • Dense to very dense fog in night/morning hours is forecast over isolated areas of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.
