Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson unveiled a plan to keep low-level, non-violent offenders out of jail - a move that some say would aide in reducing the burden on poor and minority defendants. Also – recently - the county’s bond system has come under fire. An advocacy group claims that low level crime jail defendants - who are unable to pay their bond, are left in jail for days…some arguing that they are being jailed for… being poor.
