Prophetic Peace

Prophetic Peace

DATE - December 7, 2025 PREACHER - Rev. Jeremy Wicks SERIES - Dare to Dream - Advent and Epiphany 2025 SERMON - Prophetic Peace SCRIPTURE - Matthew 3:1–12 & Malachi 3:1–6 (NRSVUE) As we continue our Dare to Dream Advent journey, this week we turn toward Prophetic Peace—a peace that is deeper than quietness and stronger than avoidance. Last week, the weather pushed us online, but we still began Advent together with Vigilant Hope, choosing to stay awake to God’s dream in a weary world. This week’s message invites us to think about peace the way Scripture describes it: not as comfort for comfort’s sake, but as transformation. John the Baptist calls us to “prepare the way,” to clear space in our hearts and lives so God’s peace can take root and grow. True peace reshapes us. It tells the truth. It heals. It restores. And it prepares us to welcome the One who comes to make all things new. As you watch, reflect on this question: What needs to be cleared away in me so that peace can begin? Welcome to Week Two. Let’s dare to dream together. --------------------- BRFUMC, a campus of United Methodist Ministries of Mecosta County, is an inclusive and affirming community where everyone is welcome to participate fully in the life of the church.
