West Indies (Probable XI): Brandon King, Evin Lewis/Johnson Charles, Shai Hope (c and wk), Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Romario Shepherd, Jason Holder, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph England (Probable XI): Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith/Tom Banton, Jos Buttler (wk), Harry Brook (c), Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Brydon Carse, Adil Rashid, Saqib Mahmood, Luke Wood Preview by AkshayaKrishna Polya England haven't lost a game this summer in the United Kingdom. They hammered Zimbabwe in a red-ball game before whitewashing West Indies in a three-match ODI series. Now, the focus shifts to the shortest format. England face West Indies in a three-match T20I series, starting on Friday (June 6) at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street. This will be Harry Brook's first assignment as an England T20I skipper. He is fresh from dominating the Windies in the 50-over format. Jofra Archer (right thumb injury), Jamie Overton (finger injury) and Gus Atkinson (hamstring injury) weren't available for selection, while the veteran Joe Root wasn't considered. Jamie Smith was initially not given a nod. Still, with Phil Salt, who is on paternity leave following the birth of his child earlier this week, withdrawing from the series, the Surrey wicketkeeper batter has been roped back in the squad. A special mention for Salt's commitment to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League as the Lancashire wicketkeeper batter took a quick break between Qualifier 1 and the final, flew home to be there with his wife during the delivery, and fly back in time to play and win the tournament for the Rajat Patidar-led side. The rest of the set-up remains all but the same. Luke Wood, Liam Dawson and Rehan Ahmed have received the call-ups for the shortest format, owing to their consistent performances in the English domestic circuit. Ben Duckett, Smith, Tom Banton, Jos Buttler and Brook will make the batting line-up look strong, while Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Rehan and Dawson's all-round abilities make this a dangerous set-up. Adil Rashid is still spinning his web, while Matthew Potts, Brydon Carse, Saqib Mahmood and Wood will make a superb seam-bowling quartet. On the flip side, this will be a real test for West Indies' new T20I captain Shai Hope, who took over from Rovman Powell earlier this year. Hope hasn't had a great Ireland and UK tour so far, but with a few regular Caribbean firepower joining the camp, the visitors have a formidable unit. The T20I giant Nicholas Pooran won't be part of this series as he requested the West Indies Cricket Board for rest after a busy IPL with Lucknow Super Giants.
