But her husband watches her from the foot of the stairs. He goes to her to know her anguish. She is gazing through the window at her child’s grave and laments. Therefore, she refuses to answer him. He learns that her wife is gazing at the family burial plot, where the deceased family members are buried. Their son is also buried in the family graveyard. He husband remains ignorant of her inner torment. The wife resents her husband’s insensibility and wants to run from the house. Her husband doesn’t understand her suffering. The husband requests her to stay and talk to him about what she has been going through. However, he doesn’t understand her. Although, the death of the child has not been less painful for the husband. However, Amy scolds him, thinking that her husband has been indifferent to their dead child. The husband accepts her anger, but the rift between them continues to exist.
