After a bombing attack on a reactor, he is haunted by memories of the mysterious Sephiroth and meets florist Aerith Gainsborough. Strange entities appear during his journey, influencing his path. Cloud reunites with Tifa and Aerith and learns of Shinra's plan to collapse part of the upper plate onto the Sector 7 slums. Despite their efforts, Avalanche fails to stop the disaster.
