El Nacimiento

El Nacimiento

Marilyn Gartelmann Quiroz recounts her family's tradition of setting up a nativity scene, inspired by her mother-in-law's small, quaint Mexican nativity. After visiting Mexico in 1965, she and her husband Al created a similar scene at home, expanding it over 20 years to include over 300 clay figurines from Mexico. The assembly process involves setting up a wooden framework and carefully placing each figurine. Marilyn highlights her favorites, such as a coal miner and humorous characters, and describes the mesmerizing effect of viewing the nativity scene in their living room, especially with Christmas music playing and lights on.
