Thermal energy is the energy stored by a system when it heats up; it is therefore the energy related to temperature. In this video, we will explore the two facets of thermal energy: the microscopic side. Where we will see that thermal energy is actually microscopic kinetic energy the macroscopic side. Where we will see that the thermal energy stored in a system is proportional to its mass and to the temperature change. This leads to a relationship from the course and a new physical quantity: specific heat capacity (which can also be molar!)
