#doctor #kidneyhealth #kidneydisease #nursing #medical #education #awareness It is a Congenital disease Commonly present at the age of 40 yrs During development some of the uriniferous tubules fail to join with collecting ducts Such uriniferous tubules develop into cyst Both kidney are affected with multiple large cyst Clinical feature- Pain in loin(both) Hematuria Pyuria Hypertension Pyuria Bilateral renal mass (swelling)- consistency is firm & nodule Investigation- Urine routine WBC Plain X-ray USG IVP- spider leg deformity of the calyces Blood urea level & Serum creatinine Treatment- if asymptomatic polycystic kidney doesn’t require any treatment 1) Polycystic kidney with hypertension-Antihypertensive drug if uncontrolled BP- renal transplantation 2) if cyst infected/ pyuria- Antibiotics 3) Polycystic Kidney with renal failure- Renal Transplantation
