That's how we'll control the roadways and plow across France to Paris. Liberation's comin' soon." Operation Cobra is the second campaign level in Call of Duty: WWII. This mission details the Allied advance into France after the Normandy invasion, offering a classic experience of fighting through hedgerows and crossroads towns. Three weeks after the Normandy invasion, US forces launch Operation Cobra, aiming to break out of Normandy with heavy aerial bombardment support. The 1st Infantry Division is assigned to retake Marigny. Aielo, Stiles, and Daniels discuss boxing when Zussman rejoins the platoon. Pierson doubts Zussman's readiness for combat and pesters him about his wound. The platoon boards tanks from the 745th Tank Battalion to convoy to Marigny. During the drive, Perez explains to Daniels' squad that Pierson's harshness stems from losing most of his men at the Battle of Kasserine Pass in Tunisia, which led to his demotion due to his tough demeanor. Stiles and Aielo also discuss German contributions to the world. Suddenly, German Stukas attack the convoy, destroying a tank in front of Perez. Daniels and his platoon reach an anti-aircraft gun, which Daniels uses to shoot down the Stukas. The platoon reunites with the tanks and pushes through fields, destroying anti-tank cannons and trenches. They witness two civilians executed by hanging in an orchard. Once the area is clear, Davis arrives and informs the platoon that Charlie Company is outnumbered in Marigny. He orders Pierson's squad to rescue them. They take jeeps to Marigny, and Daniels uses a machine gun to clear out Germans, saving Murphy's squad. Afterward, Pierson sets up a perimeter on the outskirts of town, announcing that they will liberate Marigny the next morning, despite Stiles' dismay.
