Silver prices surged to a historic all-time high on Wednesday, shocking the commodity markets. In India’s futures market, MCX silver prices jumped over 4% to ₹2,05,934 per kilogram, marking the highest level ever recorded. This sharp rally was driven by strong global cues, tight supply signals, and rising expectations of interest rate cuts by the US Federal Reserve next year. On MCX, the March 2026 silver contract surged by ₹8,179, while the May 2026 contract climbed to a record ₹2,08,796 per kg. The rally was not limited to domestic markets — globally, COMEX silver prices crossed $66 per ounce for the first time, hitting a new all-time high of $66.27 per ounce, up nearly 4.7%. Gold prices also moved higher alongside silver. On MCX, gold futures for February 2026 rose to ₹1,34,409 per 10 grams, while April 2026 contracts climbed to ₹1,37,683. Globally, COMEX gold futures advanced to $4,353 per ounce, supported by safe-haven demand and expectations of monetary easing. What’s driving the rally?
