Smc Lecture 5 💸🔥🔥 What is Liquidity in Trading? In simple terms, liquidity = money in the market. It represents buy and sell orders (stop losses, pending orders, etc.) waiting at certain price levels. 👉 Institutions (banks, smart money) need liquidity to fill their large orders. That’s why they “hunt” retail traders’ stop losses — because stops are ready liquidity pools. 🔹 Types of Liquidity Equal Highs / Equal Lows (Double Tops/Bottoms) Retail traders think it’s “strong support/resistance.” Institutions see it as a pool of stops above/below → liquidity target. Trendline Liquidity Retail traders buy/sell on trendlines. Price often breaks the trendline first (to grab liquidity) before reversing. Session Highs/Lows Asian range highs/lows, London & NY session highs/lows = common liquidity zones. Order Cluster Liquidity Areas where a lot of orders are stacked (OBs, supply/demand zones, imbalance zones). 🔹 Liquidity Grabs (Stop Hunts) Price is often pushed above a high or below a low just to trigger stops and capture liquidity. After liquidity is collected → market reverses in the opposite direction. 👉 This is why many retail traders get “wicked out” before the real move starts. 🔹 Liquidity in SMC Trading Smart money uses liquidity as fuel for price moves: Price seeks liquidity (stop hunt). Once liquidity is captured, institutions have enough orders to move price in the intended direction. That’s why we look for: Liquidity sweep (inducement) → then Displacement (strong move) → then Mitigation (OB/FVG entry) 🔹 Quick Visual (text version) Equal Highs = liquidity Price spikes above highs → grabs stop losses → reverses down ✅ In short: Liquidity = stop losses + pending orders in the market. Institutions need liquidity to place large trades. Liquidity sweeps usually happen before the real move.
