WWE Summerslam weekend is upon us and NXT TakeOver will be kicking off the festivities tonight with its second NXT Takeover: Toronto event. The card features high stakes championship matches along with a 3 Stages of Hell main event and a grudge matches involving Io Shirai and Candice LeRae. (A-) Good to great matches, memorable segments, good storyline progression for all divisions, and high energy throughout. The show is good enough to wake a dead crowd up and all wrestlers involved come out looking better than how they looked before it. (A) Velveteen Dream’s entrance was a tribute to THE MOUNTIE and the 2019 NBA champions the Toronto Raptors. Matt Riddle hits the ring to a HUGE pop. He greets the crowd with “BRO!” and calls out KILLIAN DAIN for a fight. Dain enters through the crowd and both men fight. Officials come out to separate the two but end up getting attacked in the carnage. Both men end up going off the stage through a table!
