HOW TO PAINT A DOG PORTRAIT The Vizsla with Suzanne Barrett Justis In this oil painting tutorial, I will show you how to paint a dog portrait, step by step in oil paints . This dog, named Remi, is a gorgeous Vizsla and is much loved by his family. I will take you step by step in this painting tutorial of Remi, the Vizsla. I will go over the the palette we will be using in painting a realistic dog portrait. I will first, show the rough sketch, then block the dog in and slowly build the paint to create the depth in the fur. Watch or paint along as I paint the expressive eyes Remi as he gazes lovingly up at his mom . You will learn how to paint a realistic dog portrait with oil paint, step by step. You will learn to paint fur by mounding your color along the folds of skin and understanding the topography of the dog's face. Understanding how to manipulate color and value and understanding basic structure of the dog will help you create a realistic pet portrait. Even though this portrait is in oils, a lot of these same techniques can be applied to painting pet portraits in acrylic paint as well. Follow or paint along and learn my painting process of this original artwork.
