In the Acts of St. John, after the Last Supper Jesus danced with his disciples, after which the disciples fled, each in their own direction. John, on the other hand, went to a cave, seeking comfort. There Jesus shows himself to him, and reveals what the cross is and the meaning of crucifixion. As with mystical images, we need to take them into ourselves, where they will work in us.
