It stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, alongside Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Eddie Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabella Moner, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell in supporting roles. Development on a sequel to the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) film Man of Steel (2013) began in October 2014, with Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman. Plans changed after troubled production that saw sequels to Justice League (2017) and Man of Steel shelved in May 2020.[3] Gunn began work on a new Superman film around August 2022. In October, he became co-CEO of DC Studios with producer Peter Safran and they began work on a new DC Universe. Gunn was revealed to be writing a Superman sequel in December. The title Superman: Legacy was announced the following month, Gunn was confirmed to be directing in March 2023, and Corenswet and Brosnahan were cast in June of that year. The subtitle was dropped in late February 2024, when filming began in Norway. Production took place primarily at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, with filming locations around Georgia and Ohio. Filming wrapped in July. Superman is scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States on July 11, 2025. It will be the first film in the DC Universe.
