JOSHUA 10 43v 04 OMIT hither M (Mention) take v smite M have gone over (crossed over i.e. the definition of the word Hebrew) v made peace with 05 IG Jebusites v Amorites CD Adullam v Eglon ADD gathered themselves together (encamped) around v before besieged v made war against 06 inhabitants v men hands v hand M hill country v mountains (Joshua 9 shows that both translations seem to use these terms interchangeably) 07 every one mighty in strength v and allº the mightyº menº of valour 08 hands v hand M there shall not one of them be left before you v here shall notº a manº ofº them standºº beforeº thee M 09 And when Joshua{gr.Jesus} came suddenly upon them v Joshuaº therefore cameºº untoº them suddenly (The narrative is Joshua used a surprise attack, which may imply this was his plan originally and the words of YAH may have given him increased confidence in his plans v because of these words from YAH Joshua decided to surprise attack perhaps changing his strategy) 10 struck them with terror v discomfited IG Oronin v Bethhoron M 11 at the descent of Oronin v were in the going downº to Bethhoron (this is a high elevation point v this could be a hill, or even flat, not necessarily too cumbersome to navigate) M hailstones v great stones OMIT in the battle M 12 into the power of Israel v before..Israel when he (Joshua or YAH?) destroyed them in Gibeon{gr.Gabaon}, and they were destroyed from before the children of Israel Let the sun stand over against Gibeon{gr.Gabaon}, and the moon over against the valley of Aijalon v Sun,º stand thou stillºº upon Gibeon;º and thou, Moon,º in the valleyº of Ajalon (expressed differently) 13 BD until God executed vengeance on their enemies v untilº the peopleº had avengedºº themselves upon their enemies ADD [Is] notº thisº writtenºº inº the bookº of Jasher? it did not proceed to set till the end of one day. v and hasted notº to go downºº about a wholeº day (did not move v did not hurry to go down) 14 so that God should hearken to a man v that Yahwehº hearkenedºº unto the voiceº of a man M 20 ADD tillº they were consumed (they were not consumed as seen by the latter half of the verse) that they that escaped took refuge in the strong cities. v that the restº [which] remained ofº them entered intoº fencedº cities (they had to physically escape v they were just left to live) M 21 (returned) safe (safely) v in peace (quiet/tranquility) ADD the camp BD and no one of the children of Israel murmured with his tongue v noneº movedººº his tongueº against anyº of the childrenº of Israel (no one from Israel complained v none from outside Israel complained - illogical because those from outside Israel have reason to complain due to the deaths and destruction) 22 IG the mouth, unto me 23 IG CD Adullam v Eglon M 24 all Israel v all the men of Israel (Joshua spoke to all Israel v Joshua spoke only to the captains) Come forward v Come near (step right up and do this v come closer) [this verse reminds me of the verse where it says until I make your enemies your footstool] M 25 Do not fear them (the kings), neither be cowardly v Fear not, (general fear) norº be dismayed M 26 ADD smote them (Joshua did not play with them or waste time torturing them) M 27 toward the setting of the sun v at the timeº of the going downºº of the sun (afternoon to evening v evening) 28 they v Joshua slew the inhabitants v smote it M 30 OMIT and they took it slew the inhabitants v smote it there was not left in it any that survived and escaped v he letºº noneº remainº in it (it is not enough to see that nothing comes into the city but to also ensure that no one comes out of the city) 31 besieged v fought against it M 32 they took it v which took it (Israel conquered it v the time it took/that elapsed) they put the inhabitants to death v smoteºº it OMIT and utterly destroyed it M 34 and he besieged it and took it. v they encampedºº againstº it, and foughtºº againstº it (they conquered it v they were in the process of fighting them) 35 BD OMIT And the Lord delivered it into the hand of Israel he v they 36 encamped about it v fought against it (they positioned themselves v already fighting) 37 ADD And they tookºº it ADD and the kingº thereof, and allº the citiesº thereof M all the living creatures v all the souls M 42 And Joshua{gr.Jesus} smote, once for all v Joshuaº takeºº at oneº time (conquered v chronological) M 43 ADD And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal [Reflection: you can see the swiftness and the unstoppable force YHVH is using Joshua to conquer kingdom after subsequent kingdom - 6 as much as 8 in this chapter alone. I believe this is a prototype for how Yehoshua HaMashiach will likewise conquer each kingdom at his second coming. Kingdom by kingdom will fall and it news will spread like wildfire of his victories and nations that end up surrendering or being absolutely wiped out by strategic warfare and divine intervention]
