Scorsese's religious thriller could have looked a lot different. Long before the casting of Liam Neeson, the film was initially set to star Daniel Day-Lewis, Gael García Bernal and Benicio Del Toro. All three ended up leaving production after it experienced repeat delays. As you can tell, besides Neeson, the other replacement were Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver. With the film now out in theaters, some are stamping Silence as Martin Scorsese's first box office bomb.
