Deputy injured during high speed chase

IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) - A deputy was injured during a chase of a motorcycle that reached speeds of more than 120 mph Friday afternoon, Michigan State Police told 24 Hour News 8. The pursuit began in Lansing with the motorcyclist traveling well in excess of 100 mph. The Michigan State Police began tracking him in Ionia County. The Ionia County Sheriff's Department also joined in. During the pursuit while the deputy's car had its lights and siren on, a black Pontiac turned in front of the squad car. The deputy hit the Pontiac and then a tree in front of a home in the 10700 block of M-21 just before 4 p.m.
