Makaton Signed Story - TODAY IS MONDAY - Singing Hands

For today's #Makaton #SignedStory - we are practising our signs for different food and days of the week with THIS IS MONDAY by Eric Carle. This story is also fantastic for sequencing and memory skills and for learning signs for different animals too. Note on signing: You'll see that we sign FISH here - this is the food sign for fish, not the fish that is still swimming about in the river or sea. The sign for MEAT is an index finger to the neck so when talking about meat rather than the live animal, the signs for the different meats are also made near the neck. For chicken, you'll see that this is the bird sign next to your neck rather than the chicken animal sign (bent arms flapping up /down by your side). Beef is a thumb touching the neck just under the chin.
