Learn 3 Degrees of Comparison in English grammar: Positive, Comparative, and Superlative Adjectives (young → younger → youngest) ► Playlist:    • 3 Degrees of comparison in English grammar   Video lesson #english #hoctienganhlearnenglish #learnenglish 📘 Scenario Overview 📝 We are comparing the ages of four people using the adjective “young” and its comparative "younger" and superlative "youngest" forms. young → younger → youngest. 💡 You'll learn how to express: 🟢 Exact equality using as...as and just as...as. 🟡 Small differences with almost/nearly as...as, not quite as...as, and a little/a little bit younger than. 🔴 Big differences using not nearly as...as and much/a lot/far younger than. 🔝 Superlative using the youngest form. Their ages are: Person A: 25 years. Person B: 24 years. Person C: 16 years. Person D: 25 years (used only for exact comparisons) 🟢 Exactly the Same Age As...as is used to say that the two parts of a comparison are equal or the same in some way. As + adjective/adverb + as. ➕ Structure: as...as or just as...as 🌟 Used to show that two people are exactly equal in age. 🅾 Example: D is (just) as young as A (is). ✔️ This means D and A are both 25 years old. “Just” adds emphasis to the equality. It is a modifier. The final “is” is optional and often omitted in casual speech. 🟡 A Small Difference in Age These structures show that one person is slightly younger than another. We use various modifiers to signal that they are close. Nearly/almost, quite, a little/a little bit. Quite is often used with the negative. ➕ nearly/almost as...as 🌟 Used to show someone is close in age, but not equal. 🅾 Example: A is almost as young as B. ✔️ A is 25, B is 24 — very close in age but not equal. OR ➖ not as...as or not quite as...as 🌟 Used to show someone is not equal in age, with a slight difference. 🅾 Example: A is not (quite) as young as B. ✔️ “Not quite” softens the comparison. OR ↓ a little / a little bit + comparative adjective + than 🌟 Used to show a small age difference. 🅾 Example: B is a little younger than A. ✔️ B is 1 year younger than A — a minor difference. 🔴 A Big Difference in Age These structures emphasize a significant age gap. We use strong comparative modifiers or strong negative comparisons. Nearly, much/a lot/far. Nearly is often used with the negative. ➖ not nearly as...as 🌟 Used to show someone is not equal in age, with a big difference. 🅾 Example: A is not nearly as young as C. ✔️ A is 25, C is 16 — a large difference. OR ↑ much / a lot / far + comparative adjective + than 🌟 Used to strongly emphasize the difference in age. 🅾 Example: C is much younger than A. ✔️ “Much,” “a lot,” and “far” all work here. 📍 In the examples, words like just, nearly, almost, quite, a little, a little bit, much, a lot, and far are all functioning as modifiers. Quite and nearly are often used with the negative. Modifiers are words or phrases that change, limit, or intensify the meaning of another word. 🔝 Superlative: 🅾 Example: C is the youngest of all. #trending #viral #ytshorts #shorts #shortvideo #englishgrammarrules #basicenglishgrammar #englishgrammarforbeginners #englishgrammarlesson #englishgrammarclass #learnenglishgrammar #learnenglishadjectives #learnadjectives #learnbasicenglish #basicenglish #formingadjectives #adjectiveforms #adjectivesformation #adjectivechart #adjectiverules #adjectivewords #masteradjectives #masterenglishadjectives #grammar #masterenglishgrammar #masterenglish #mastergrammar #sentencestructure #sentencepattern #englishsentencestructures #englishgrammarstructures #englishpractice #englishgrammarpractice #wordsformation #wordsform #formingwords #wordsbuilding #vocabulary #vocabularybuilding #vocabularywords #englishwords #esl ▼ More Playlists ▼ #partsofspeech The 8 parts of speech in English grammar (with Examples): noun, pronoun, verb, preposition, adjective, adverb, conjunction and interjection.
