I SUFFER WITH ANXIETY & DEPRESSION | HOW I WORKED TO OVERCOME MY DEMONS | MENTAL HEALTH STORY

Anxiety & Depression. Where to start? This is something I never thought I would ever struggle with, and outwardly, it doesn't seem like I do to anyone, even to some of those closest to me. As Christmas draws closer, I thought I would share my story with you. A story that started after I moved down to Hertfordshire and things declined in my life (which is a story for another day). Facts and figures taken from Mind and measured over the last year of those actually diagnosed (in private housing only): 6 in 100 people suffer from anxiety. 3 in 100 people suffer from depression. 8 in 100 people suffer from mixed anxiety and depression. 21 in 100 people have had suicidal thoughts. 7 in 100 people have attempted suicide. 7 in 100 people have self harmed. It is estimated that 1 in 6 people have experienced a mental health issue in the last week. Women are twice as likely to be diagnosed than men. 20% of teens experience a mental health issue within any given year. 50% of all mental health issues are established by age 14. 75% of all mental health issues are established by age 24. 12.7% of sickness days in the UK are attributed to mental health issues. In 2016, 5668 suicides were recorded in the UK. 75% of these suicides were male. Please remember that you are not alone. Everyone suffers differently, and I hope that sharing this story has enlightened you, helped you or made you feel a little less alone.
