Be Still: Music for Meditation and Prayer | Full Album Audio

Be Still: Music for Prayer and Meditation is an instrumental album composed by Zachary James Kolkman with the express intent on designing musical works specifically for meditative purposes. In a world of chaos we could all use greater stillness and the hope is that this album of meditation music will help to inspire greater stillness in the world. Each track was aimed to be around ten minutes in length composed with a given philosophy and vision for what the music aimed to accomplish in relaxation and emotional resolution. While the album was composed with the idea of letting it run straight through, and as such has been crafted with care to prevent jarring transitions between tracks, it has also been created with this particular order in mind and seeks to accomplish different goals as the album proceeds. Each musical piece on this album was created with the idea of the piece functioning as a stand-alone work of only ten minutes or so (with the exception of track 02 which accidentally clocked in at thirteen and a half minutes), while simultaneously fulfilling a larger role within the collection as a whole. As a listener, you of course have your own autonomy in decision-making and are free to explore the music as you see fit. However, if you find that there is only about ten minutes to see what this album is all about, it is recommended that you begin with either ‘Track 01 Vulnerability’ or ‘Track 04 Crystal’ for the best representation of the work, and effect as a whole. That being said, there is something truly unique about taking the time to be actively engaged in meditation and/or prayer and listening for the full ordered duration of the album and nothing can truly replace that experience or effect. In the end, if you have found a moment of stillness through listening to these tracks the goal has been accomplished. May there be more stillness, meditation and prayer in world everywhere for everyone. May you find greater stillness within yourself.
