Remember, remember the 1st of October

On 1 October 2017 2.3 million peaceful voters in Catalonia took part in a self-determination referendum inspired by Scotland and Quebec. Tragically, unlike the UK and Canadian governments, Spain's government opted for brutal repression. 961 peaceful voters were injured by police batons and to date, no one has been held accountable. Nevertheless, two civil society leaders and 7 political leaders have been held for two years without bail, accused of sedition and rebellion, for simply promoting the vote. Their human right to free assembly and freely express their views have been severely violated. In a matter of days, Spain's Supreme Court will offer their judgment from the January - June 2019 trial and Catalonia's political and civil society leaders will almost certainly be convicted and they face sentences of up to 25 years. Please STAY ALERT for the sentences.
