You Are The Reason (keyboard instrumental cover) (written by Calum Scott, Jon Maguire & Corey Sanders) 'You Are The Reason' was the second hit single by British singer-songwriter Calum Scott. In 2015, Calum Scott finished 6th in Britain's Got Talent. Calum Scott has since gone on to release 2 hit singles as well as a successful debut album. 'You Are The Reason' is the second of his hit singles, peaking at 43 in the UK singles chart. However, a re-recorded version of the song as a duet with Leona Lewis was a bigger hit in the USA in 2018, reaching No. 11 in the US Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. My keyboard version was arranged and performed on a Yamaha Tyros 5-76 and Roland FA08. The video of my virtual orchestra was generated using the midi-player MidiJam (©Scott Haag). Unfortunately, this unique piece of software has not been updated for over a decade, and it remains unfinished with a number of limitations. For example, not all GM instruments are covered so sometimes alternative instruments have to be substituted, and it does not distinguish visually between acoustic guitars and electric guitars (only electric guitars are depicted). Nevertheless, in spite of these shortcomings and some of the impossible instrument playing shown, I think it is a fun way to add visual interest to a keyboard audio recording.
