Def. Sec. Ashton Carter in Irbil, Iraq

(17 Dec 2015) US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter arrived in Irbil, the capital of Iraq's Kurdish region, on Thursday. Carter was greeted by Deputy Chief of Mission Jonathan Cohen, the chief US diplomat in Iraq, Consul General Mattias Mitman, Lt. General Sean McFarland, the commanding US General in Iraq, Major General Paul LaCamera and Brigadier General Mark Odom, the Commanding General of the 82nd Airborne Division. Kurdish Interior Minister, Kareem Sinjari, and Kurdish Foreign Relations Minister, Falah Mustafa Bakir, also greeted Carter. His first stop was the Combined Joint Operations Centre where Carter met US personnel.
