I try to make the ultimate call me by your name lil nas DIY version of the patchwork denim jacket. A complicated design so making a pattern is key. I deconstructed an old denim shirt. I took the pattern of the collar and made it a bit bigger. Than I made a basic outlined pattern of the front and back panels and drew in all the lines that I could see. (Button plackets, waist band, pockets flaps ) For the back I just sewed pieces together and got the pattern out of the fabric like that. Important is the reinforce all the facings and the collar and waist band with iron on interfacing and on the real fabric I also put strips of interfacing where the buttons come to make sure the buttons and button holes will be solid. Also important to cut extra seam allowance everywhere ofcourse! I serged most seams and than topstitched the seam allowance on the sewing machine. This will keep the seams flat. I hope you enjoy this DIY lil nas x fashion video and get some inspo for your next denim jacket out of it.
