Winter Carnival at Pahalgam Pahalgam, January 2, 2024 Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chowdhary, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Advisor Nasir Sogami, and MLA Pahalgam Altaf Kaloo, arrived in Pahalgam this evening to be a part of the much-anticipated Winter Carnival. The event kicked off with vibrant cultural performances, including a captivating musical presentation by renowned artist Abha Hanjura, Ishfaq Kawa, Aabid Aly, Noor Mohd and Bal Purskaar Awardee Ayan Sajad. The enchanting melodies and electrifying performances kept the audience enthralled, with a large gathering of tourists and locals enjoying the festivities. Speaking to media, CM Omar Abdullah highlighted the significance of Pahalgam as a premier tourist destination and emphasized the government's commitment to promoting cultural and tourism-related activities in the region. He added that such carnivals would be organised in Gulmarg, Doodhpathri and Sonmarg also in coming days. Speaking exclusive to DD News Srinagar, Director Tourism Kashmir Raja Yaqoob said that the Winter Carnival aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir while providing a platform for local artists to display their talent and attract more and more tourists even during winters. He added that with a notable turnout of tourists during 2024 a better Tourism season is expected this year also with the beginning of the winter in Kashmir, The tourists from across the country had come to witness the winter carnival and while talking to DD News Srinagar sais that that Pahalgam is one of the world’s best winter tourist destination adding that adequate arrangements were put in place by the administration. The evening concluded on a high note, with attendees appreciating the vibrant performances and the festive atmosphere of the Carnival.
