Even other Marvel characters admit that Deadpool is actually a rip-off of Deathstroke, as Sabretooth once called Wade Wilson "Slade" to his face. In a 2013 Deadpool comic, after the Merc with a Mouth called Victor Creed a rip-off of Wolverine, Sabretooth fought back by calling the antihero by Deathstroke's real first name. In doing so, he showed that Marvel characters are fully aware of Deadpool's very obvious inspiration from DC Comics. Reynolds. Still, before he became big and took a more comedic turn, he was known for being a fairly obvious rip-off of Deathstroke. Despite Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld claiming that the G.I. Joe hero Snakeyes inspired the character he created alongside Fabian Nicieza, the hero's name, look, and non-superhero moniker are extremely similar to DC's Deathstroke. Likewise, Wade Wilson and Slade Wilson share many attributes, especially before Deadpool was transformed into a humorous, fourth-wall-breaking antihero. Even Marvel characters such as Sabretooth have admitted Deadpool is a rip-off of Slade. In this case, Sabretooth calling Deadpool "Slade" is about as directed of a reference to Deadpool's origins and inspiration as one can make. Of course, over time, Deadpool evolved into a unique character whose slapstick and fourth-wall-breaking made him a fan-favorite Marvel Comics antihero. However, as Sabretooth reminds Deadpool after being called a rip-off of Wolverine himself, the Merc with a Mouth will always be tied to Slade, aka DC's Deathstroke, for better or worse. So when Marvel characters are even calling out Deadpool as a rip-off of a DC Comics hero, you know there's got to be some truth to it.
