California's Oroville Dam Spillway Collapsing with Potential for Catastrophic Flooding

Today's (03/17/2017) Update: Nearly 1.25 million cubic yards of debris have now been removed from below the damaged main spillway. Extensive repairs have been made--to both the main and emergency spillways. The power plant is running again and releasing 13,000 cfs. The main spillway is scheduled to resume dumping 50,000 cfs, sometime today. Keep fingers crossed that the house-of-cards "fixes" hold together until permanent repairs can be made. And taxpayers: Get ready to pony up the $1.5 million a day, for 5 weeks and counting, that this mess is costing us (exclusive of permanent repairs)!
