New Life's Worship Service on December 27th, 2020 - the First Sunday after Christmas

Worship Service on December December 27th, 2020 - the First Sunday after Christmas, at New Life Ev. Lutheran Church of Lake Zurich. Service folder/bulletin: http://www.newlife-wels.org/podcast/c... Today’s Theme: The Gospel for the First Sunday after Christmas takes us to the temple in Jerusalem, where Jesus is brought by Mary and Joseph. In presenting Him there, they are affirming that He is dedicated to God as a firstborn son. But He is much more than a son—He is the Son. In her classic hymn text, German hymnist Elisabeth Cruciger celebrates His coming as she writes, “The only Son from heaven, foretold by ancient seers, By God the Father given, In human form appears. No sphere His light confining, No star so brightly shining As He, our Morning Star.” Jesus is the One in whom we see our salvation, whose light guides our way through life, and whose presence enlightens our world. With joy, we worship Him! Before Service Prayer: Jesus, You are the Lord of all. Days after You were born into this world You were placed into the arms of an old man, a man Your Spirit made a wonderful promise to. Your presence in the temple was noted by an old woman, who spoke about Your coming to all who longed for salvation, for God’s promise of a Savior to be kept. Today, we thank You for being the Savior of all, the Savior that older people rejoice in and speak about. Grant the same blessing to those in our midst who are up in years, that by faith, they too may hold You in their arms and sing Your praise. Amen.
