DIY Roof Top Tent

I love that I was able to make this tent myself, from constructing the platform to sewing all the tent, fly and annex together. All in I think I spent about $500 and it did take a while, however, knowing what I know now I could get through it a lot quicker next time. We've used it for over a month now through a few different trips and it's held up amazingly well. It's great in the rain, cold and wind and is really easy to set up and take down. I'll include some of the specific dimensions and materials I used down below. Let me know if you have any questions about the build. The platform is 54" wide and each panel is 48" long. When opened up that makes the tent 96" long. That size gives us enough room to fit a queen size air mattress (50-52 x 80") and still have enough room at the end of the mattress to fit things. The center conduit is 48" above the platform so gives us lots of room to move around in there without feeling cramped. Here are some of the quantities I used for those products... nylon coated wire - about 25' Nylon webbing and buckles - you'll use 14 buckles for the tent/fly so get two orders of this Seam Sealant - 2 bottles 20 gauge vinyl - 2 yards 3/32" cable crimps - 1 pack #10 zipper (for door, tent extension and annex) - 10 yards for tent door/screen and extension, 16 yards for annex (use double pull slider option for door and screen #3 coil zipper for windows (screens and panels) almost 20 yards (get 4 packs of the zipper with the orange pulls) basting tape - 2 x 50 yard rolls Screen - 2 rolls of the 48" x 117" Brass grommets - 1 pack Cotton twill tape - 1 roll (I used cotton but if you can find a light nylon material that would be better for mildew prevention) Solar twinkle lights - 1 pack Solar security light - 1. I didn't show this but I mounted this under the overhang so when we get into or come out of the tent at night, or if something is moving around down there at night, this immediately lights the entire area up. Amazing light. Ottertex Canvas Waterproof fabric (7 yards for the fly and 26 yards (12 yards for the tent, 14 yards for the annex ) We have the Qomotop double self inflating mattress. It used to be on Amazon but I don't see it there anymore. I added something that looks similar if you can't find that one anywhere. Comes in 10 foot lengths so get 4, don't forget the collar connectors.
