Thunderbolts (2025) Movie Review! #thunderbolts

#Thunderbolts (2025): 7.5/10 Director: Jake Schreier Runtime: 126mins ⠀ Thunderbolts, a film that has been in the works for a while, is already being mooted as one of the best things to come out of Marvel since 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’. The ‘Suicide Squad’-esque team are forced to work together in order to survive Valentina Fontaine’s scheme to destroy all evidence connected with her, after being faced with imminent impeachment. ⠀ As with the recent ‘Brave New World’, Thunderbolts returns to the MCU’s more grounded, CGI-minimal roots, with the cobbled together team proving an entertaining and humorous watch for the most part. Florence Pugh is the driving force of the film as Yelena, who appears a little lost in life. MCU newcomer Lewis Pullman is on board as the mysterious “Bob”, a wonderfully goofy and placid character who, in the grand scheme of things, is far more dangerous than the team realise. ⠀ It’s certainly not the colourful adventures of old though, focusing heavily on the shared grief and traumatic experiences of the past - delving into some truly dark and unsavoury flashbacks. It dares to be different and have those conversations, which is the most refreshing aspect of the film, and helps bring the unlikeliest of teams together. Be sure to stick around for the usual post credit scenes, particularly the second one, which is a humdinger and hugely significant for what is to come. ⠀ What did you think of Thunderbolts?
