FOLLOW THE SPIDERS! | PART #11 | LEGO HARRY POTTER COLLECTION 1-4 YEARS Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is a video game in the Lego video game franchise, developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Warner Bros. Released in June 2010, the game is based on the Lego Harry Potter line and its story covers the first four films in the Harry Potter series. The game is available on Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and iOS. The gameplay of Lego Harry Potter is similar to most previous Lego games, with an emphasis on collecting and exploring. Casting spells is an integral part of the game, with a wide range of spells to unlock throughout. Since there are so many spells available, the player can use the spell wheel to select the one they want. Potions are another integral feature; these can aid players in completing levels or, if brewed correctly, have side effects such as increased strength, invisibility, or the ability to make objects explode. Changes to mechanics from previous games include Student in Peril missions, which are sets of problems requiring players to help a student, and Polyjuice Potion, which allows players to temporarily transform one of their characters into any other unlocked character. The Leaky Cauldron serves as a central hub for purchasing unlockable extras and returning to previous levels, while Hogwarts acts as a massive, constantly evolving center where unlocked characters roam the famous school, unlocking rooms, revealing secrets, attending magic classes, potions classes, and more. The larger areas at Hogwarts have prompted Traveller's Tales to improve the overall level design. A bonus level is also included, allowing players to customize characters, similar to the previous sequel, Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues. If the player gets lost in the game, they can follow a trail of Hogwarts ghosts to the next level. These don't count toward the total study score, but they guide the player to the next section of the level. The central hub is Diagon Alley, and the entrance is through the Leaky Cauldron. Players can access a room on the second floor of the building to watch in-game videos, as well as use a notice board with images to replay levels in story mode or free play, which allows the use of all unlocked characters and the collection of all collectibles. Diagon Alley serves as a series of shops where the player can buy characters or exchange a number of customizable items, spells, and bricks that have a diverse range of uses, such as changing the player's pipe into a carrot, or making the player invincible. Players can also visit Gringotts or Borgin and Burkes to play bonus levels. The game features a wide variety of characters from the first four films and books, from notable figures like Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape to others such as Viktor Krum in his shark form or the sweets seller from the Hogwarts Express. Multiplayer Mode: The game employs the two-player split-screen technique introduced in Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues and Lego Batman: The Video Game, but online support is not available for all consoles. The game's plot differs from that of the books and films several times in order to have at least two characters in each level. For example, Hermione joins Harry during the first task of the Triwizard Tournament, which differs from both the book and the film, where Harry fights the dragon alone.
