Biden: "Congress Must Restore the Right That Was Taken Away in Roe v. Wade" | EWTN News Nightly

President Joe Biden drew applause at Tuesday night's State of the Union when he said it's never been a good idea to bet against America. He pledged to work with Republicans, but criticism poured in when he addressed abortion, even though his comments on the topic were brief. President Biden said, "Congress must restore the right that was taken away in Roe v. Wade and protect Roe v. Wade." He continued, saying "The Vice President and I are doing everything to protect access to reproductive health care and safeguard patient safety. But already, more than a dozen states are enforcing extreme abortion bans. Make no mistake about it; if Congress passes a national ban, I will veto it." But pro-life groups fought back. The SBA Pro-Life America tweeted: "Democrats don't want to have this debate because they support NO protections for the unborn. Not even from painful late-term abortions or even providing care for babies born alive after attempted abortions." And Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders accused the Biden Administration of being "completely hijacked by the radical left." Republicans also pushed back when the president accused them of trying to cut Social Security and Medicare. The president is even getting grief from groups that have supported him in the past.
