Jedi: Survivor - Rancor (Grandmaster)

Now this was a tough one. At the end of the video I said it took me about 9/10 times to complete this fight, but upon rewatching the save file, it was probably closer to 20… So the first question is why did I say so low? 2 things: The Meditation Point being so close The loading times being so quick This GENUINELY saved my sanity, and this is something I REALLY enjoyed about this fight; it rewarded me for trying, instead of punishing me for failing. So now the second question is HOW DO YOU DEFEAT THIS THING??? I’ll tell you, but I gotta let you know that this probs ISN’T the BEST WAY, just what worked for me: First of all, DUAL STANCE; I wanted to prioritise power and range in this fight, cause you wanna lightsaber throw when you can, and flurry the hell out of it when he’s vulnerable. DISTANCE MANAGEMENT is the most important thing with this guy; not only is every hit nearly unblockable, but it does NOT properly televise its attacks, so stay away and wait for… … it’s very obvious lunge unblockable, so you DODGE TOWARDS and fire off many shots to the side of its leg. You do not want to get caught underneath its OP stomps. Staying to the side means you can dodge away when this happens and repeat the same movements. Recognised this one mid-fight, but (if you’ve died already) WAITING TO PICK UP YOUR LIFE ESSENCE is a great way to retain as much force as possible, cause it completely replenishes the force bar when you do! Because of the tight Arena, and the unorthodox attack patterns of this beast, it was important for me to find my RHYTHM with this one, and I found that the steps above (Dodge lunge unblockable, spam legs to get force, gain distance, lightsaber throw, repeat) helped me find that momentum. What made this 20 death fight feel like 9, was because it was SO doable. I would not be surprised if there’s a hitless run of this thing. I didn’t even try to parry it, so I wonder if that was the way all along… Either way, 10/10 fight, would not fight again…!
