Then cellular immunity will contain it The infection can then remain latent or cleared off The individual will be asymptomatic or non-infections But LTBI can become active Detection and treatment of LTBI will save the patient and the general populace Tuberculin Skin Test [TST] Interferon-Gamma Release Assays [IGRAS] Exclude an active TB Now wise to screen for HIV from day one Who should be screened? -Contacts of active PTB -IVD users -Homeless -Prisoners -Care workers in prisons/homeless shelters -Visitors to endemic regions -HIV positive -Immunosuppressed e.g. transplant/chemo cancers In many cases, the initial test is TST If TST positive: Confirm with IGRA Also r/o active TB with history/PE/X-ray If TST is negative, use IGRA to be sure IGRA [ Interferon Gamma Release Assay ] AND MANY MORE PIECES OF INFO,ENJOY LISTENING!
