Transfiguration Sunday, Communion Sunday – March 2, 2025

Pastor Todd preaching from Luke 9:28–43a Music by John Kendall Bailey What a joy-filled Sunday it was welcoming eight new members into the DCC family and engaging in shared theological reflection, guided by Pastor Lauren, related to how our faith compels us into prayer and action on behalf of the natural world (“we are nature!”). So much wisdom in the Sanctuary and a valuable exercise to imagine within the space of community what the created world might be asking of us in this age. What is the most interesting thing you learned from someone you were in conversation with? And how does your faith inform how you are to be in relationship with nature? Rooted in the need to respond boldly to the crisis of climate change, the words shouted by marchers in Peru a decade ago reverberate into every issue of injustice we face in this country: Things gotta change folx! In the way of Jesus [that incidentally began with prayer], we too must be changed, “transformed by the renewing of our minds,” and rise up with bold and compassionate action, rebuking the bad spirits around us with an unequivocal “Stop!” People of God, this is our moment! Because you know what, our still-speaking God endures far more powerful than any system designed to bring harm and division. And God’s spirit will give us everything we need.
