Reversing Falls, St John, New Brunswick

The famous reversing falls in St. John, New Brunswick before and during high tide. The Reversing Falls are a series of rapids that appear on he St. John river which runs through a narrow gorge before emptying into the Bay of Fundy. The massive tides force the flow of water to revers against the prevailing current when the tide is high. The "falls" are created by a series of underwater ledges which roll the water in either direction creating powerful whirpools.
