Atreus's grief causes him to transform into a bear and briefly battle Kratos. Thor and Odin arrive, offering peace if Atreus abandons his search for Týr, but Kratos refuses, leading to a duel with Thor. Kratos, Atreus, and Mímir take refuge with Sindri and later rescue Týr. In Alfheim, they learn that only Asgard will be destroyed in Ragnarok, and Atreus, under his Loki identity, might be the new champion. Atreus later meets Angrboda in Jötunheim, who shows him a prophecy of Kratos's death. He returns to Midgard, and after reconciling with Freya, they break the curse binding her to the realm. Tensions between Kratos and Atreus rise, leading Atreus to flee to Asgard to prevent his father’s death. He helps Thor reassemble an ancient mask for Odin. Meanwhile, Kratos learns Heimdall is destined to kill Atreus, so he forges a spear capable of killing Heimdall, setting Ragnarok in motion. Atreus reunites with Kratos, and they reconcile. However, during their efforts, Brok is fatally stabbed by Odin, who had disguised himself as Týr. This leads to Sindri's heartbreak and abandonment. Kratos and Atreus commit to Ragnarok and, along with Surtr, prepare to destroy Asgard. The realms unite under Kratos’s leadership to siege Asgard. Thor is eventually killed by Odin for disobeying him. Kratos, Atreus, Freya, and Mímir defeat Odin, with Atreus trapping his soul in a stone that Sindri destroys. Surtr then destroys Asgard. Atreus, after seeing a mural revealing his mother had altered their fate, decides to find the surviving Giants. He bids farewell to Kratos, who discovers his own future as a god of peace. The story concludes with Kratos and his allies working to restore peace among the realms, Freya reclaiming her role, and Thrúd wielding Mjölnir.
