😴Afternoon Naps - YES or NO?!🤔 #shorts

A few things you need to remember with respect to sleeping in the afternoon (Yoga & Ayurvedic perspective): 1. Sleeping (not just lying down & resting!) after lunch is known to increase Kapha in the body - you might put on excess weight. Also not suggested for people with diabetes, Asthma, sinusitis etc. 2. Sleeping in the day time is known to increase Tamas in your body - you might end up feeling a lack of energy, lethargic & lose interest in the activities for the rest of the day. 3. Sleeping for more than 30min might interfere with your sleep cycle at night - you might not fall asleep faster and end up waking late the next day. There’s a great possibility of that becoming a vicious cycle. 4. Day-time sleeping is not ideal for people suffering from sleep disorders such as insomnia. Obviously you’ll feel tired during the day because of your condition, but sleeping during the day time is only going to worsen your condition or of the Imbalance in the sleep cycle. There are many other reasons why it’s not ideal to sleep in the afternoon. Usual scenarios where it is suggested are for postnatal and if you are down with some sickness. But what to do if you feel tired during the day? As I’ve mentioned in the video, you can practice NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep-Rest) techniques such as Yoga-nidra or GUIDED SHAVASANA (this is the 3rd technique - watch the previous reel to know more about this🥰🙌🏻) - these will bring a state of deep rest & relaxation to your body & mind, relieves fatigue & energizes you for the rest of the day. Hope that helps🤗 Give these a try🥰🙌🏻 let me know your questions in the comments 💐
