Gospel of the Day Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Saint Luke Luke 9:51-56 When the time drew near for him to depart from this world, Jesus resolved to leave for Jerusalem. He sent messengers ahead of him, and they went to a village in Samaria to arrange lodging for him. But the Samaritans would not welcome him, because they knew he was going to Jerusalem. When they refused, his disciples James and John said to him, "Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?" But Jesus turned and rebuked them. Then they went to another village.
