Solfeggietto in C Minor, H 220, Wq.117:2 by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788) C.P.E. Bach was a Baroque and Classical composer and teacher. He was a son of Johann Sebastian Bach and Maria Barbara Bach. Georg Phillipp Telemann was his god father. When he was 10, he entered the St. Thomas School in Leipzig, one of the oldest school in the world, founded in 1212, where his father J.S. Bach was a cantor in in 1723. C.P.E. Bach became a professional composer, performer, and teacher. His students include his youngest brother Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782) and Jan Ladislav Dussek (1760-1812). He was called "our piano forte hero" from his contemporaries. Mozart, Clementi, Beethoven also respected his work. When Beethoven took Czerny as his student, he did make sure to get C.P.E. Bach's instruction book, "Essay on the True Art of Playing Keyboard Instruments". The book (Treatise) was written for the purpose of teaching and giving music instruction.
