Composer Jean-Claude Risset later created a version where the sound slides continuously instead of stepping between notes, often called the Shepard-Risset glissando (that smooth, endless rise/fall effect). Another fun fact: brown noise is often called Brownian noise because it is named after Scottish botanist Robert Brown, not the color brown. It can also be called red noise.
